NASC convenes 48th session
The National Assembly Standing Committee (NASC)’s 48th session opened in Hanoi on May 25.

Addressing the opening ceremony, NA Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan noted that the committee will give comments on a report on examining the implementation of the national target programme on building new-style rural areas in the 2010-2015 period and restructuring the agricultural sector, and another on examining the implementation of laws and policies on scientific and technological development to boost industrialisation and modernisation in the 2005-2015 period and the future orientation focusing on fostering support and manufacturing industries.
The NASC will also discuss two draft resolutions on criteria and categorisation of administrative units and on regulations on urban classification, Ngan said.
In addition, the National Election Council will report initial results of the election of deputies to the 14th NA and People’s Councils at all levels for the 2016-2021 tenure, she added.
After the opening ceremony, NA Vice Chairman Phung Quoc Hien chaired a panel on discussing the two reports. Participants mostly agreed with the two reports and gave comments on several specific points in the reports.
