As of the morning of May 31, 58 out of 63 provinces and cities across the country have announced their list of deputies elected to the 14th National Assembly (NA) and all-level People's Councils for the 2016-2021 tenure.
On May 30 alone, 12 provinces reported their results of the election: Tra Vinh, Tuyen Quang, Tien Giang, Long An, Ha Nam, Phu Yen, Yen Bai, Thai Nguyen, Dak Nong, Lam Dong, Dong Thap, and Quang Tri.
Eleven out of 12 provinces have elected enough deputies to the NA except Lam Dong province which elected six deputies to the NA, one deputy fewer than stipulated.
Regarding the election of deputies to the People's Councils at province and district levels, several provinces have posted inadequate numbers of deputies including Tra Vinh (a lack of one deputy to the People's Council at the province level), Tien Giang and Dong Thap (a lack of one deputy to the People's Council at district level), and Quang Tri (a lack of two deputies to the People's Council at district level).
Meanwhile, Tuyen Quang, Ha Nam, Phu Yen, Dak Nong and Lam Dong will have to hold additional elections to elect more deputies to the commune-level People's Council due to the inadequate number of elected deputies.
According to NA General Secretary and Chief of the National Election Council's Office Nguyen Hanh Phuc, the National Election Council will announce the results of the election of deputies to the 14th NA on June 11 at the latest.
