The event saw the presence of Politburo members: President of the VFF Central Committee Nguyen Thien Nhan and Secretary of the Party Central Committee (PCC) and the PCC’s Commission for Mass Mobilisation Truong Thi Mai.
At the conference, delegates discussed and commented on the draft report on the VFF Central Committee’s operation during the first half of 2016 and major tasks in the second half, as well as approved its action programme for implementing the Resolution of the 12th National Party Congress. The participants also contributed their ideas to complete the report of the VFF Central Committee Presidium on the situation of the people and country over the six first months.
Addressing the conference, VFF President Nguyen Thien Nhan affirmed that the VFF Committees at all levels and the VFF Central Committee Presidium has made important contributions to the success of the 12th National Party Congress and election of deputies to the 14th National Assembly (NA) and People’s Councils at all levels for the 2016-2021 tenure.
He also emphasised that over the past five months, the country’s macroeconomic stability was basically maintained, inflation was controlled and foreign exchange reserves significantly increased.
The issues of labour, employment, social security and social welfare saw numerous positive results; the national political security and social order and safety were ensured; and external activities were promoted, increasing Vietnam’s position in the international arena.
However, the country’s socio-economic situation in the first six months of this year has faced numerous difficulties and challenges including unfavourable changes in the weather, climate change and environmental pollution negatively affecting the economic growth, particularly in agricultural and industrial production, said the VFF President.
Appreciating the results in the VFF Central Committee's operation, Politburo member Truong Thi Mai noted that the VFF Central Committee should enhance its activities to contribute to promoting the strength of national unity, as well as evaluate and forecast the movements and changes in social structure and aspirations of people from all strata in order to propose appropriate guidelines and solutions.
It is very necessary to strengthen discipline in state administrative management in order to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of the Partys’ guidelines and State’s policies and laws as well as the work of the VFF and its members, added the Politburo member.
She asked the VFF and political and social organisations to continue to innovate their operations and improve the quality of the implementation of the co-ordination programmes between the Committee and local governments and armed forces in mass mobilisation.
