Newly-elected NA to convene first session from July 20-30

Under the chairmanship of National Assembly (NA) Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, the NA Standing Committee (NASC) discussed preparations for the first session of the 14th tenure NA, scheduled to take place from July 20-30, on the morning of June 13.

The first session will spend most of time considering and making decisions on high-level human resource organisation. The NA will elect President, Prime Minister, NA Chair and other high-ranking positions in the NA and the Government and Vice State President for the 2016-2021 term.

After being elected, NA Chair, NA Vice Chairs, NASC members and heads of the State will present their human resource plans for elections of Chair of the NA Ethnic Council, Chairs of NA Committees, NA Secretary General and State Auditor General.

The elected President will present a human resource plan for elections of PM, Vice State President, Chief Judge of Supreme People's Court and Procurator General of the Supreme People's Procuracy.

PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc will present a report on the Cabinet’s organisational structure in the 2016-2021 tenure.

After being elected, the new-tenure PM will raise suggestions on appointments of Deputy PMs, Ministers and other Cabinet members for NA’s adoption.

The NA will also discuss and adopt a resolution to approve the President’s suggestions on appointments of Vice Chairs and members of the Council on National Defence and Security.

According to NA Secretary General Nguyen Hanh Phuc, after the NA adopts a resolution on the NA’s oversight programme in 2017, the NA will consider and adopt another resolution on establishing specialised examination delegations.

Also in the first session of the new NA, PM Phuc will deliver a report on socio-economic development and the State budget situation in the first half of the year, and solutions to realise the socio-econimic and State budget plans for the last six months of the year.
