Meeting held for retired southern Party and State senior cadres
The Party Central Committee (PCC)’s Secretariat held a meeting in Ho Chi Minh City on August 14 with retired Party and State senior cadres in the southern region to inform them of the country’s socio-economic situation.

The meeting was chaired by Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong as well as Politburo members: Permanent member of the Party Central Committee Secretariat Dinh The Huynh and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Pham Binh Minh.
Former President Truong Tan Sang, former PM Nguyen Tan Dung, and delegates who are former Politburo members, Secretaries of the PCC, former Party, State, government and NA leaders and representatives from a number of central agencies.
At the meeting, Politburo member Dinh The Huynh reported the socio-economic situation after the 12th National Party Congress; meanwhile Deputy PM Pham Binh Minh briefed on the East Sea situation in recent times and PCC member and Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Tran Hong Ha made a presentation on the environmental incident in the central region caused by the Formosa Ha Tinh Steel Limited Company.
Addressing the meeting, Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong noted that the event aimed to provide former senior cadres with information on the domestic and international situation, contributing to promoting unity among the entire Party and society.
The Party chief also gave thanks to former senior leaders as well as affirmed the Politburo and the PCC’s Secretariat have always acclaimed and acquired their valuable ideas, serving for leadership and direction work.
The Party General Secretary reaffirmed the determination of the entire Party, army and people in the protection of national independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Fatherland as well as maintaining political stability and a peaceful environment for national development in a fast and sustainable manner.
On behalf of the Party and State, Party chief Nguyen Phu Trong extended wishes of good health to senior cadres as well as expressed the hope that they would continue to significantly contribute to successful implementation of the Resolution of the 12th National Party Congress.
