The statement was made by Politburo member and permanent member of the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat Dinh The Huynh while meeting with representatives of the Overseas Party Committee (OPC) as well as secretaries and deputy secretaries of overseas Party organisations and heads of overseas Vietnamese representative agencies.
The Politburo member asked the OPC to continue to lead officials, Party members and people abroad to successfully fulfill assigned political tasks, significantly contributing to implementing the foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralisation, diversification and international integration as well as the tasks of national construction and defence.
He emphasised that through communication work, the Party organisations of overseas Vietnamese representative agencies can call for support from international friends as well as prevent conspiracies of hostile forces.
Politburo member Huynh urged the OPC to continue to thoroughly grasp the Resolution of the 12th National Party Congress as well as enhance research, advice, and proposal of necessary policies and measures to improve the quality of its activities abroad.
Secretaries and deputy secretaries should pay much attention to making Party organisations trustworthy and strong, noted the Politburo member.
On the same day, the OPC held a conference on Party work in 2016, with the presence of Politburo member, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Pham Binh Minh.
Addressing the conference, Deputy PM Minh asked the OPC to consider international integration as a major strategy in implementing foreign affairs.
The committee should co-ordinate with relevant agencies to enhance communication of the Party’s guidelines and State’s policies as well as improve political stuff of Party members in order to fight against untrue information, distorted allegations, slander and conspiracy of hostile forces, contributing to firmly safeguarding the country’s independence, sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity.
