Various activities mark 71st anniversary of National Day
A wide variety of practical activities have been held across the country to mark the 71st anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day (September 2).

The Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (HCMYU) Central Committee held a press conference in Hanoi on August 22 to announce the fourth National Congress of Outstanding Youths in following President Ho Chi Minh’s teachings that will take place in the capital on August 28-29, as part of activities to celebrate the National Day.
The congress will feature the participation of 445 outstanding youth union members and young people who have made achievements in studying, working and training.
The event is expected to encourage Vietnamese youth to express their love for the fatherland through specific and useful acts in daily life, working and studying, contributing to making the country more beautiful and prosperous.
On the sidelines of the congress, the delegates will join numerous activities including offering incense to President Ho Chi Minh and meeting Chairwoman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, as well as various forums in different themes including ‘The youth in international integration’, ‘The youth volunteers’ and ‘Promoting the creation among the youths’.
The Dak Lak provincial Youth Union has held a ceremony to honour youths who made outstanding achievements in the campaign of following Uncle Ho’s teachings and building new-style rural areas in 2016.
The event also offered an opportunity for local young people to share their experience in numerous fields including studying and scientific research, as well as ensuring national security and defence.
Also on August 22, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced the plans for the upcoming arts programmes at the Hanoi Opera House to celebrate 71st anniversary of National Day.
Three first and major events are a special symphony concert by the Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra on August 30, a drama play on soldiers both in the wartime and peacetime by the Vietnam National Drama Theatre on August 31, and performances by artists from the Vietnam Cheo (Traditional Opera) Theatre on September 1. The programmes are expected to satisfy arts lovers, particularly during the upcoming national holidays.
