National Assembly Vice Chairman Phung Quoc Hien made the affirmation while hosting a meeting in Hanoi on October 13 with 63 representatives of the Vietnam Farmers’ Association, who were presented with ‘Vietnam’s outstanding farmers in 2016’ title.
The NA Vice Chairman congratulated the 63 guests on receiving the title, which honoured exemplary farmers with outstanding achievements in the manufacture and production of agricultural products as well as those having set-up initiatives and introduced inventions which have gone on to reap success.
He applauded the great contributions of Vietnamese farmers to the national construction and defence, saying that farmers, together with workers, created a driving force for the country’s revolutionaries.
Noting that the country is having both favourable opportunities and challenges in its extensive integration into global trade through the signing of and participation in bilateral and multilateral trade agreements, he called on farmers to exert more efforts in seizing opportunities brought from the integration process and produce products and services with higher quality and competiveness.
He also pledged that the NA and Government would continue completing policy and the legal system to further support, famers, agriculture and rural areas.
