President urges for improved strategic advisory quality to service Party and State leadership

The four offices of the Party Central Committee, the President, the Government and the National Assembly should further improve the quality of research, analysis, forecasting and consultancy to facilitate the Party and State’s leadership, President Tran Dai Quang has suggested.

The State leader was speaking during an annual meeting for the four key offices held by the President's Office in Hanoi on February 9 to review their implementation of the 2016 coordination programme and carry out the plan in 2017.

Speaking at the meeting, on behalf of the Party and State, President Tran Dai Quang praised efforts and results achieved by the four offices over the last year, which made important contributions to the country’s achievements.

He stated that in 2016 the country successfully hosted many important events, notably the 12th National Party Congress and the elections of deputies to the 14th National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels for the 2016-2021 tenure.

In the complicated context of regional and global developments, with consensus and determination the entire Party, people and armed forces have striven to overcome difficulties and gained important achievements, with increased GDP growth, a stable macro-economy and inflation under control, plus foreign exchange reserves reaching the highest rate ever.

Thereby, the material and spiritual lives of the people continue to be improved; defence and security have been strengthened and national sovereignty has been maintained, President Quang stressed, adding that Party building, administrative and judicial reform and the fight against corruption and wastefulness have been strengthened.

In addition, foreign affairs and international integration continues to gain robust deployment, bringing in practical results and helping improve the role and position of Vietnam in the region and on the international arena.

President Quang emphasised that the four offices have contributed greatly to the above accomplishments by closely following directions from the Party and State, fulfilling their duties and more effectively implementing cooperation in advising and proposing socio-economic development strategies and foreign policies of the country, efficiently serving internal and external relations of the leaders of the Party and State.

He said that 2017 is an important year to continue the implementation of the Party and State’s policies and in preparing and organising for the 2017 APEC Summit and other important events, while continuing to promote judicial and public administration reform, ensuring macroeconomic stability, transforming the growth model and improving the efficiency of foreign affairs and international integration to create a solid foundation for further development over the following years.

In this spirit, President Quang urged the four offices to uphold their tradition and achieved results to enhance their operation, continuing to further improve the quality of research, analysis, forecasting and advisory to the Party and State’s leaders.

He also suggested the key offices focus on Party building work and further strengthen the relationship among them and with relevant ministries, branches and localities to fulfil their assigned political tasks.
