Implementing Decision No.1672 of PM on organization of 2017 economic census

Tien Giang provincial People's Committee has just held  the conference to implement Decision No. 1672/QĐ-TTg dated Agust 26, 2016 of the Prime Minister on organization of 2017 economic census. Deputy Chairman of Tien Giang provincial People's Committee and Head of the Census Steering Committee of Tien Giang province Le Van Nghia, presided over the conference.

The 2017 economic census is conducted nationwide to collect data on economic establishments in order to meet the following goals: (1) Assessing the development in the number of establishments and employees; results of production and business; application of information technology; structure and distribution of establishments and employees by province, kind of economic activity, types of ownership, meeting the management requirements of the Party, the Government, ministries and line ministries, provinces; (2) Calculating the official statistical indicators of statistical areas, Gross Domestic Product (GDP), Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) for 2016 according to the scheme on innovation of compilation process of gross regional domestic product, other statistical indicators in the System of National Accounts; (3) Supplementing data and updating the database on enterprises, the overall sample frame on economic establishments for sample surveys of the Statistics, ministries, line ministries and localities in the next period.

The general census will be conducted in two phases. The first phase will start from March 1, 2017 to May 30, 2017 and the second phase will start from July 1, 2007 to July 30, 2017.

Speaking at the conference, Deputy Chairman of Tien Giang provincial People's Committee and Head of the Census Steering Committee of Tien Giang province Le Van Nghia affirmed that the 2017 economic census was both a task of serving the Government in economic development and  helping Tien Giang to evaluate GRDP to build the plan of socio-economic development in the coming years. He suggested that districts, towns and cities in the province implemented synchronous on time, promoting propaganda task in oder to get the best result.
