Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc made the remark while working with the Vietnam Association of Medicinal Materials in Hanoi on March 29.
Addressing the working session, the PM emphasised that Vietnam was a tropical country with many favourable conditions for the development of medicinal materials.
He urged the association to point out difficulties and limitations in developing medicinal materials to overcome as well as associate the production of medicinal materials with the processing and consumption of products both in domestic and export markets.
The Government leader affirmed the necessity of the organisation of several large-scale centres for producing and processing medicinal materials in different regions and localities.
PM Phuc asked medical facilities and hospitals to promote the production of medicinal materials in developing traditional medicine and to cleverly combine modern and traditional medicine.
The PM tasked the Ministry of Health with directing and co-ordinating with relevant ministries and agencies to draft institutional and policy orientations to present them at the upcoming national conference on medicinal materials.
He added that the national online conference on the development of medicinal materials, which is expected to be held on April 12, would be chaired by himself and Deputy PM Vu Duc Dam.
