Third session of 14th National Assembly to open on May 22
The National Assembly (NA) Standing Committee has passed the decision to convene the third session of the 14th NA on May 22 and to conclude on June 20 in Hanoi.

According to information published on the Vietnam NA Online portal on April 21, implementing the guidance of the NA Standing Committee, NA General Secretary Nguyen Hanh Phuc issued Document No. 575/TTKQH-TH announcing the launching of the 14th NA’s third meeting.
Accordingly, on the basis of considering the current situation, the NA Standing Committee passed the decision to convene the session on May 22 in Hanoi. The sitting will last until June 20.
Pursuant to provisions of the law, the proposal of the relevant authorities and the current situation, the NA's Standing Committee proposed NA deputies to authorise the adjustment of a number of projected laws, along with the removal of four out of eight bills submitted to the NA for comments, including Competition Law (amended); Law on the Protection of State Secrets; the Law on Amendment of and Supplement to a Number of Articles of the Labour Code; and the Law on Temporary Emergency Measures before Litigation.
In addition, the NA Standing Committee proposed to add three additional documents to be submitted to the NA for consideration and approval at the third session, including the Resolution on the handling of bad debts; the Resolution approving the supplementary treaty on the boundary between the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the Lao People's Democratic Republic on the amendment of the starting point of the national boundary of Vietnam -Laos; and the Resolution on the ratification of the Protocol on Borders and Landmarks between the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the Lao People's Democratic Republic.
In addition, the government has proposed to consider and approve the draft Law amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Law on Credit Institutions and the draft Resolution on adjusting the level of contribution to the unemployment insurance fund for employers stipulated in Article 57 of the Employment Law according to the procedure at a meeting under the third session.
In order for the third session to achieve good results, the NA Standing Committee directs concerned agencies to promptly complete documents on contents of the session to send to NA deputies for examination and comment.
The NA's Standing Committee also requests NA deputies to organise meetings with voters in accordance with the regulations and submit consolidated reports to the NA Standing Committee before May 12 to sum up, prepare and submit to the NA at the opening session on May 22. They were also urged to send questions and propose groups of issues to be questioned by the NA at the Q&A session of the upcoming sitting.
NA deputies should give opinions on the contents and programmes of the 3rd session and send them to the NA General Secretary before May 5, in order to revise and submit them to the NA Standing Committee at its 10th session scheduled to open on May 15.
