Building up institutions trade union at Tien Giang

On June 10, the delegation of the Vietnam General Federation Labour led by Member of Central Party Committee, Chairman of Vietnam General Federation Labour Bui Van Cuong, worked with Tien Giang province about implementing to building the project of “Investing in the establishment of institutions trade union at industrial zones, export processing zones”.

Member of Central Party Committee, Secretary of Tien Giang provincial Party Committee Nguyen Van Danh, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Deputy Secretary of Tien Giang provincial Party CommitteeLe Van Huong and relevant departments worked with the delegation.

At the meeting, Chairman of Vietnam General Federation Labour Bui Van Cuong said that the project of “Investing in the establishment of institutions trade union at industrial zones, export processing zones”, which has been approved by the Prime Minister, including housing institutions, kindergartens, community supermarkets as well as legal counseling, health care and other activities needed by workers.

This institution will contribute to solving urgent problems of workers in localities by specific actions, at the same time, it contributes to raising the competitiveness of the locality to attract investment, to help workers do not jump, to reduce traffic congestion when large numbers of workers on shift and work finish. In particular, if it is set up, the institution will meet 2 to 10% of the demand for housing, kindergartens, cultural activities, sports, ect... for workers.

According to Cuong, the outstanding content of this project is the housing model with two types of sale or lease. In which, the house area of 32 square meter per one unit with the selling price is about VND 100 million sold in the form of full payment upon receipt of the house or the maximum payment in 10 years. Vietnam General Federation Labour will develop regulations and standards for people who bought house and strictly supervised to avoid speculation, profiteering.

According to the plan of the Vietnam General Federation Labour, from now to 2018, 10 housing projects for the first workers will be built in Ha Nam province, Quang Nam province and Tien Giang province. Especially in Tien Giang province, the trade union institutions will be deployed to build My Tho industrial park and Trung An industrial cluster (My Tho city) with an area of 3.1 hectares and a total investment of VND 310 billion including 17 blocks of houses, 952 houses, housing needs for about 4,088 union members and workers and labors. Time to implement the plan is period 2017-2020.

At the meeting, the Vietnam General Federation Labour and the Provincial Party Committee, Tien Giang People's Committee agreed on the policy of investment, some specific support mechanisms to speed up the progress because of the large and urgent needs of workers.

On behalf of the Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial People's Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Van Huong said that Tien Giang province is very welcome and ready receive the project of "Investing in the establishment of trade union institutions in the industrial parks and export processing zones" to implement in Tien Giang province in order to create conditions for the province to better care for workers and labors.

In the process of implementing the project, Tien Giang province authorities together with the Vietnam General Federation Labour will jointly solve difficulties and obstacles so that the scheme is implemented in accordance with the spirit of the target as the Prime Minister approved.
