Cabinet members were asked to form solutions clearing business obstacles and oversee how State groups and corporations follow the Party Central Committee, National Assembly and government’s policies.

The Ministry of Planning and Investment reported that a record 50,500 new firms were established in the first five months of this year. During the period, inflation was put under control while foreign direct investment attraction and tourism services recorded growth.

The Ministry of Finance offered refunds of added-value tax online nationwide from May 12, marking a leap in administrative reform.

For the first time, the government did not delay the submission of its reports to the National Assembly (NA), and submitted 13 bills to the 14th NA’s third session for consideration.

The government leader also took the occasion to brief Cabinet members on the outcomes of his recently-concluded US visit, saying that Vietnam is one of the 16 countries running a trade surplus with the US. Both sides discussed a range of areas, from trade to national defence-security, including the East Sea issue.

The visit also marked a significant milestone in investment promotion, with the signing of economic deals worth up to US$12 billion, including business licenses in engineering and equipment, he said.

He added that intellectuals, overseas Vietnamese and US Congressmen expressed their support for Vietnam’s multilateral relations policy, particularly amid current global integration.
