Tran Quoc Vuong assumes new role as Secretariat's permanent member

Politburo member and head of the Central Inspection Committee Tran Quoc Vuong has been assigned to replace Dinh The Huynh as the permanent member of the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat while the latter is on medical leave.

The decision was made at a meeting of the Politburo on July 28 following a proposal made by the Organisation Commission.

Vuong began his new role from August 1, according to an announcement issued on the same day by Nguyen Van Nen, chief of the Party Central Committee Office.

Both Dinh The Huynh and Tran Quoc Vuong were born in 1953.

Huynh was elected to the Politburo in 2011 and re-elected in 2016 while Vuong was elected to the top decision-making body in 2016.
