PM urges cabinet members to effectively perform promises
Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc chaired the government’s regular meeting in Hanoi on December 1, during which he urged the cabinet members to effectively perform their promises to the National Assembly and voters, as well as implementing the NA’s resolutions.
Despite positive socio-economic achievements in the January-November period, PM Phuc warned that the ministries, sectors and localities should not feel satisfied, but must continue implementing their tasks better, such as addressing the consequences caused by floods and storms, and public investment disbursement.
Underlining the importance of addressing post-flood consequences, the PM noted that drastic and comprehensive actions are needed in December 2017 and early 2018, with a focus placed on administrative procedure reform and the effectiveness of law enforcement.
The leader requested that the cabinet members make greater efforts to complete their socio-economic tasks and targets in 2018; stablise the macro economy; restructure the economy in tandem with renewing the growth model; improve their quality, productivity, and competitiveness; and encourage innovation, start-ups and business development and economic growth.
PM Phuc stressed the need to intensify the fight against corruption, wastefulness and negative phenomena; focus more on social and cultural development; promote social equality and improve people’s living conditions; to protect the environment and adapt to climate change; strengthen national defence and security; and enhance the effectiveness of external affairs and international integration.
The PM asked the State Bank of Vietnam to keep a close watch on the currency, credit, interest and exchange rate market in order to make timely adjustments.
He noted that the electricity price increase has little influence on the CPI, requesting the relevant sectors to closely follow prices and the market, to ensure a sufficient supply of goods and services, particularly during the year-end months and the Lunar New Year (Tet).
PM Phuc requested the ministries, sectors and localities to strictly implement the roadmap for divestment at state-owned enterprises, especially at Sabeco, Habeco and other major businesses.
The PM asked the Ministry of Public Security to investigate and seriously settle all recent children abuse cases.
