The Government leader made the request while chairing a meeting held in Hanoi on January 17 by the MOLISA to review its operation in 2017 and devise tasks for 2018.
PM Phuc called on more investments from non-State sources, particularly the private sector, to vocational training facilities, and stressed the need of completing policies and programmes on vocational training for farmers, underprivileged people, and policy beneficiaries.
He applauded the ministry for fulfilling its set target for 2017, particularly its remarkable achievements in reducing unemployment rate and the proportion of poor households, boosting the rate of trained workers nationwide, and sending nearly 135,000 workers abroad.
In 2018, he tasked the ministry with building a project on reforming wages and social insurance, strengthening management over Vietnamese workers abroad, and seeking more markets for the export of high-skilled labourers.
The ministry was also requested to boost administrative reforms, ensure social welfares and extend the coverage of social insurance in the country.
As Tet , the traditional Lunar New Year festival is quickly approaching, he asked the ministry to pay special attention to the poor, national contributors, the homeless, ethnic minority groups, and those living in difficulties so that they may enjoy a warm and happy Tet.
