Addressing the commission’s conference in Hanoi on January 19, the Party leader said the commission’s work focuses on the organisation and personnel of the Party, which is the core of Party building work.
Personnel is the root of everything, General Secretary Trong said.
He asked the commission to proactively prepare contents for upcoming meetings of the Party Central Committee, first of all a project on building a contingent of capable and prestigious officials at all levels to submit to the Party Central Committee’s 7th plenum. The project must be based on the 20-year implementation of the personnel strategy adopted by the eighth Party Central Committee and follow the spirit of standardising the contingent of officials, tightening discipline and promoting reform in order to optimise the potential, capability and creativity of officials at all levels and in all fields, Trong said.
He told the Party organisation sector to gear up for the 13th National Party Congress for the 2020-2025 tenure and take the initiative in personnel planning for key positions at different levels, especially at strategic level.
At the same time, the sector should continue improving procedures and regulations relating to personnel work and management towards greater democracy and more transparency, the Party General Secretary said.
He affirmed the need to fight corruption in personnel work, as well as negative phenomena such as individualism, group interests and factionalism.
At the conference, delegates proposed measures to address shortcomings and limitations in Party building work, focusing on preventing power abuse and paying bribe for positions. They urged strengthening inspection of officials and Party members via press agencies and public opinions.
