Party official accentuates promoting people-to-people diplomacy
Head of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee’s Commission for Inspection Tran Quoc Vuong has underlined the need to strengthen the Party leadership and apparatus, and improve staff capacity in external affairs.
In his speech at a conference in Hanoi on January 4 reviewing activities of the CPV Central Committee’s Commission for External Relations,Vuong asked ministries, agencies, the Vietnam Fatherland Front and mass organisations to fully tap collective power and national interests in diplomatic activities and global integration and to build on the past achievements and further improve people-to-people diplomacy in 2018.
Greater attention should be paid to stepping up foreign-related information dissemination,overseas Vietnamese affairs while ensuring the unified leadership of the Party, State management over external activities and boosting closer coordination between the Party, State and people-to-people diplomacy, Vuong stressed.
The Commission for External Relations highlighted major diplomatic activities in 2017, including the Year of Vietnam – Laos Solidarity and Friendship, the Vietnam – Cambodia Friendship Year, the APEC Year 2017 and APEC Economic Leaders’ Week as contributions to reinforcing solidarity, friendship and cooperation between peoples.
Head of the Commission for External Relations Hoang Binh Quan launched an emulation campaign for people-to-people diplomacy 2018.
On the occasion, individuals and organisations were honoured with certificates of merit in recognition of their great performance in people-to-people diplomacy.
