250 martyrs' families awarded the Independence Medal

On January 31, at the Tien Giang provincial Convention center, the Tien Giang provincial Party Committee, People’s Council, People’s Committee and Vietnamese Fatherland Front Committee solemnly organized the ceremony to award the Independence Medal to martyrs' families.

Vice President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh, Secretary of the Tien Giang provincial Party Committee Nguyen Van Danh and leaders of districts, city, towns, etc… attended this event.

On this stage,  Tien Giang province has 250 families awarded the Independence Medal including 2 families awarded the first-class Independence Medal, 24 families awarded the second-class Independence Medal and 224 families received the third-class Independence Medal. These are families with many martyrs sacrificed for the independence and freedom of the fatherland.

In the resistance war against France, the US Empire as well as protecting the southwest border of the country, Tien Giang province has always been a pioneer in revolutionary movements. Through the struggle for independence, freedom for the motherland, many heroic martyrs bravely sacrificed. Therefore, the Independence Medal awarding to martyrs' families is a very meaningful affair, demonstrating the deep interest of the Party and the State in policy families to offset the loss, the sacrify of the families contributed much to the country today.

Speaking at the ceremony, Secretary of the Tien Giang provincial Party Committee Nguyen Van Danh affirmed the great contributions of heroic martyrs and relatives of martyrs during the two wars of resistance against French colonialism and American imperialism. The award of the Independence Medal for martyrs' families is a tribute to the patriotic traditions and revolutionary heroism of today's and tomorrow's generations.
