The delegates focused on evaluating the implementation of public investment in 2018 and analyzed the reasons leading to the slow implementation of public investment projects. It is said that the disbursement rate of public investment in the first quarter is low because the branches and localities focus on checking and settling the capital plan in 2017, completing the investment procedures dossier as prescribed, organizing compensation, site clearance and bidding for many works.

According to statistics, in 2018, Tien Giang province has 326 new works from public investment with a total investment of over VND5,360 billion. However, as of March 31, 1818, the total value of the implementation was just over VND320 billion, disbursing over VND235 billion, reaching nearly 7% of the plan, etc…

Speaking at the conference, Chairman of the PPC Le Van Huong said that the progress of public investment in the province of Tien Giang is very slow so the departments, localities should accelerate progress public investment in the remaining months of 2018.

He also emphasized that from now until the end of April, units and localities must concentrate on capital construction in 2018. In the public investment plan of 2019, it is necessary to add more public investments for 2020.

The Department of Planning and Investment coordinates with the Department of Construction to meet contractors and consultant unit to agree on schedule in accordance with the law. Units must have effective construction solutions including rainy season, to speed up the work to avoid voter’s reflection.

He also said that next week, the PPC will check on the construction progress across the province.
