Working group formed to inspect Vietnam's public services
ABO/NDO - Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has established a working group led by the minister for home affairs to help the Government leader carry out inspections of public service agencies’ compliance with legal regulations.
The working group is also tasked with recommending punitive actions on civil servants at ministries, agencies, and local authorities who are found to have violated rules concerning public service activities.
In addition to officials from the Ministry of Home Affairs, the group also includes those from the Ministry of Justice, the Government Office, and the Government Inspectorate.
In a January report, the State Audit found that more than 57,000 people on the State payroll are redundant.
Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh acknowledged problems concerning transparency in the processes of appointment and promotion in the public sector, where those in authority have abused their powers to appoint relatives or acquaintances.
