NA scrutinise reports on socio-economic performance

ABO/VNA – Lawmakers spent the entire May 25 and the morning of May 26 to scrutinise the Government’s reports on socio-economic and State budget performance in 2017 and the first months of 2018 during the on-going 5th session of the 14th National Assembly.

The NA deputies shared the assessment that the economic panorama in 2017 and early 2018 is bright with impressive indicators, including a GDP growth of 6.81 percent and 12 out of 13 socio-economic targets met or surpassed. The GDP continued to maintain a high growth rate in the first quarter this year with a decade-high of 7.38 percent.

They also took note of the stable expansion industrial production and good growth in the indicators on finance, monetary, development investment, services, tourism and import-export.

Many deputies hailed the Government’s efforts that helped raise the country’s position in world rankings on business environment, competitiveness and innovation, saying that the outcomes strengthen voters and the people’s trust.

The deputies also pointed out shortcomings and outstanding problems and proposed recommendations on how to address them for sustainable development.

In the afternoon of May 26, the NA listened to a draft resolution on addressing several arising issues in State budget execution in 2017 and State budget estimates in 2018.

The NA’s Committee for Financial and Budgetary Affairs also presented its report evaluating the draft resolution.

Following the presentation, lawmakers would discuss the draft resolution and the evaluation report.
