President Tran Dai Quang laid to rest in his home province

ABO/VNA - A burial service for President Tran Dai Quang took place at his hometown in Quang Thien commune, Kim Son district, in the northern province of Ninh Binh on September 27.

Attending the ceremony were National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, former President Nguyen Minh Triet, permanent member of the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat Tran Quoc Vuong, Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh, Acting President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh, leaders and former leaders of the Party and State, representatives from mass organisations, localities, armed forces, and people from walks of life.

Leaders and former leaders of the Party, State, Vietnamese Fatherland Front, comrades, compatriots, and family of the President observed a one-minute silence to pay their last respects to him.

Born on October 12, 1956, President Tran Dai Quang was dedicated to the glorious revolutionary cause of the Party and nation, as well as the well-being of the people. He drew his last breath on September 21, 2018.

Together with Party and State leaders, he directed the entire Party, people, and armed forces to effectively implement the resolution adopted by the 12th National Party Congress, as well as resolutions by the Party Central Committee and the National Assembly.

He worked closely with law-making, executive, and judicial organs, as well as the Vietnamese Fatherland Front and socio-political organisations to exercise his authority as State President, Chairman of the National Defence and Security Council, and head of the Central Steering Committee for Judicial Reform in line with the Party’s policies and guidelines, constitution, and legal regulations.

His efforts contributed to the momentum of reform, developing a socialism-oriented market economy, extending external relations and global integration, and improving Vietnam’s stature on the international arena.

As one of the key Party and State leaders, the President always maintained a strict sense of responsibility, set a good example, managed solidarity and unity within the Party, listened to public opinion, placed national interests above all, and was appreciated by comrades, compatriots, and international friends.

On behalf of the funeral organising board and the President’s family, Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh expressed thanks to mourners for attending the tribute-paying and burial service for the leader, seeing him off at his final resting place.
