Writers, artists urged to promote national cultural identity
ABO/NDO - Writers and artists should always uphold their responsibilities in preserving the national cultural identity and developing traditional cultural values, as well as preventing the penetration of toxic culture.
Chairwoman of National Assembly (NA) Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan made the statement during her meeting with outstanding writers and artists in Hanoi on January 22.

She appreciated the achievements that the cultural sector gained in the past year, contributing to improving the people’s cultural and spiritual lives, as well as promoting the image of the land and people of Vietnam to the world.
The NA leader also hailed the contributions made by writers and artists to the development of the national culture and arts.
She affirmed that the Party and State always pay great attention to developing guidelines, policies and laws in order to create favourable conditions for writers and artists to promote their talents.
NA Chairwoman Ngan stressed the important role of artists and writers in promoting the Party’s guidelines and State’s policies and laws to the people, as well as in educating human personalities, particularly for younger generations.
During the process of renewal and international integration, the artists should change their perspective and thinking in creation in accordance with development practices, she added.
The senior legislator asked the artists and writers to thoroughly grasp the reality of life, particularly in remote, ethnic minority, border and island areas, as well as actively participate in the fight against corruption and negative phenomena.
