Deputy PM urges drastic measures to ensure aviation safety and security

ABO/NDO - Ministries, agencies and localities should seriously and effectively implement drastic measures to ensure absoluteaviation security and safety.

Politburo member and Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh made the statement while hosting an online conference to review the guarantee of aviation security and safety in the first six months of this year as well as to devise tasks for the second half.

Addressing the conference, Deputy PM Binh praised relevant agencies and enterprises as well as localities with airports for their efforts in ensuring aviation security and safety, upholding Vietnam's reputation.

Referring to the key tasks in the last months of the year, he asked the Ministry of Transport to coordinate with Ministries of Public Security, Defence, Finance and Justice, to review and improve the legal system and policies on the guarantee of aviation security and safety as well as to update legal documents and regulations in line with the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO).

The Ministry of Transport should continue to review, amendment, supplement and update the National Aviation Safety Programme in civil aviation, meeting the ICAO’s requirements and practice of aviation operations in Vietnam, and also speed up solutions to apply advanced technologies in the field of safety management, noted the Deputy PM.

He also said that the Steering Committee on Terrorism Prevention and Control in the localities should pay strongattention to rehearsing and responding to situations which threaten aviation security and safety.

Deputy PM Binh urged for coordination among ministries and agencies, particularly the Ministries of Transport, Public Security, and Information and Communication, to enhance the safety and security of aviation information.
