Following Uncle Ho's model helps improve national development in multiple areas - Politburo member

ABO/NDO – The studying and following of President Ho Chi Minh’s thought, morality and lifestyle have contributed positively in many aspects of national socio-economic development, Politburo member Tran Quoc Vuong has said.

The senior Party official was speaking at the opening of a national teleconference, on August 20, with nearly 70,000 delegates nationwide to review three years of implementing the 12th Politburo’s Directive 05-CT/TW, on promoting the studying and following President Ho Chi Minh’s thought, morality and lifestyle.

Addressing the conference, Vuong, who is also a permanent member of the Party Central Committee's Secretariat, praised the positive results by Party committees, authorities, Vietnam Fatherland Front committees and mass organisations at all levels in implementing Directive 05.

The implementation of Directive 05 plays a role in the socio-economic, defence, security and external relations achievements of the country, as well as the Party building work over the past three years, contributing to improving the capacity, working styles and attitude of civil servants in serving the people and promoting administrative reform and anti-corruption.

For the future, Politburo member Vuong asked the Party committees and concerned authorities to continue to grasp the practical significance and regularity of the studying and following of President Ho Chi Minh’s thought, morality and lifestyle in Party building, political system construction, socio-economic development, ensuring national defence and security and foreign affairs.

He requested that they regularly maintain and improve the quality of communications, while applying scientific and technological advances to better education, learning from and following Uncle's example, as well as promptly spread the typical examples in implementing Directive 05 and resolutely fighting against wrong views of hostile forces against Marxism-Leninism and Ho Chi Minh Thought. In this regard, it is necessary to maximise the role of the press, writers, reporters and communicators at all levels, Vuong stressed.

Clarifying that fully grasping President Ho Chi Minh's thought, morality and lifestyle is only the first step, the senior Party official noted that it is important to turn awareness into specific actions. He urged the Party committees and Party members to strictly implement the Party and State's regulations, focusing on resolving the pressing issues that officials, Party members and people care about. Each locality, agency and unit, as well as each individual, must have a specific plan to thoroughly practice thrift and combat wastefulness, thus creating a truly transformative movement in following Uncle Ho's example.

Vuong also urged for the effective implementation of the new rural area and civilised urban area construction campaigns, whereby each individual and each family needs to protect the living environment with specific activities, such as keeping a clean living area, planting and protecting green trees and positively implementing the movement against plastic waste. The whole political system in the residential area must mobilise the people to successfully protect the environment, he stressed.
