French Party official: Party chief's article holds timeless values of President Ho Chi Minh's Thought

ABO/NDO – Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong’s article entitled “Several theoretical and practical issues in socialism and the path towards socialism in Vietnam” covers the cornerstone values of the Thought of President Ho Chi Minh, one of the founders of the French Communist Party (FCP), said a senior member of the FCP.

During an interview granted to Vietnam News Agency in France, member of the FCP Central Committee Denis Rondepierre said the article has many similarities with the FCP in issue analysis and approach, adding that the FCP shares the view of the Vietnamese Party chief on the modern capitalist sytem and its crises.

He highlighted the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) and the FCP’s similar stance on choosing development models that ensure benefits for all citizens and liberate society and humans. Economic development must go hand in hand with social progress and fairness.

According to him, countries need to review international relations and globalisation in this direction, focusing on partnerships and comprehensive cooperation instead of competition among nations.

He called for dialogues and joint projects that could be carried out by international organisations such as the United Nations and its organs.

Commenting on Vietnam’s Doi moi (Renewal) and achievements of its socialist-oriented market economy, Rondepierre said progresses over the past 35 years of renewal have proved that Vietnam's choice of the path towards socialism is a sound approach. Vietnam became the fourth largest economy in ASEAN with an average income per capita of US$3,512 last year. Its rate of poor households was reduced from 58 percent in 1993 to below 3% in 2020. The country not only ensures food security but also exports food and farm produce. The United Nations hailed Vietnam as one of the first countries to achieve millennial development goals.

The French party official attributed the above achievements to the CPV’s ability to pool resources from the people. The CPV has been able to found a development path suitable for the country’s realities based on Marxism-Leninism. The concept of socialist-oriented market economy is a breakthrough in term of ideology and creativity, he said.

Amid uncertain developments in the world, he suggested all progressive forces globally should enhance international cooperation to deal with difficulties related to environment, food and health security, global and national security.
