Ho Chi Minh City unleashes development resources

ABO/NDO - The sixth session of the 10th People’s Council of Ho Chi Minh City opened on July 6 to discuss important issues about the city’s socio-economic development.

The session saw the presence of Politburo member and Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Van Nen.

The city’s GRDP increased by 3.82% in the first 6 months of 2022, from a deep decline in the third and fourth quarters of 2021. The first and second quarters of 2022 recorded positive growth at 1.88% and 5.73%, respectively, while budget revenue increased by 17.49 % over the same period.

Industrial production has recovered and labourers have returned to work; enterprises have effectively exploited free trade agreements to expand markets and diversify customers; commercial-service activities have become vibrant as tourists have returned to the city and many activities have been organised to stimulate consumption demand; and administrative procedures to call for investment have been improved.
The above signals showed that the city's economy has recovered earlier than expected, providing an optimistic signal for the rest of 2022.
