National Assembly Standing Committee approve land use conversion for expressway
ABO/NDO - The National Assembly Standing Committee has approved the conversion of forests, woodland and rice fields into land for building the north-south expressway during the 2021-2025 period.
Under the adopted resolution, the total area of forest to be converted is 1,054.63 hectares, including 111.84 hectares of protected forests, 4.45 hectares of special-use forests, 802.91 hectares of production forests and 135.43 hectares of other forests.

The area of forestry land totals 1,863.94 hectares while the area of rice land with at least two crops a year is 1,537.23 hectares.
The land use conversion is expected to accelerate the construction of the north-south expressway.
The National Assembly Standing Committee asked the Government to complete the documents on the conversion and report to the National Assembly at its fourth plenary meeting in line with regulations.
The Committee is now convening its 13th meeting, which opened in Hanoi on July 11.
