The two defence ministers and delegates observed a minute of silence to remember the contributions of heroes and martyrs, who have fallen in the resistance war to protect the revolutionary accomplishments of Laos.
The Vietnam-Laos fighting alliance monument is dedicated to the Vietnamese and Lao soldiers, who died heroically during the resistance war against the US and is a noble symbol of the bilateral relationship.
On the same day, Minister Giang visited the Plain of Jars, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a location with the marks of the military feats achieved by the Vietnam-Laos alliance.
Fifty years ago, the alliance clinched victory in a defence campaign at the Plain of Jars and defeated the US’s enhanced special war in Laos, helping to protect the liberated region of strategic importance to Laos.
