The Vietnam Association of the Elderly currently has about 10 million members. In the 2016-2021 period, the People’s Public Security force and the Vietnam Elderly Association at all levels coordinated with relevant agencies to implement more than 600,000 programmes of law dissemination and crime prevention.

The two sides successfully mediated nearly 95,000 cases of conflicts among the people, mobilised nearly 16,000 people to go to concentrated detoxification facilities, provided the police force with nearly 200,000 valuable sources of information on political security, created jobs for more than 10,000 people, and helped nearly 90,000 people to reintegrate into the community.

“The elderly support people who are released from prison to reintegrate into the community” is one of the most effective models in the cooperation between the Ministry of Public Security and the Vietnam Association of the Elderly.

At the conference, the Ministry of Public Security presented the medal for “Protecting National Security” to 10 members of the Vietnam Association of the Elderly and certificates of merit to 139 exemplary elderly people with outstanding achievements in the ‘All people protect national security’ movement in the 2016-2021 period.
