Ceremony marks 60th anniversary of Ap Bac Victory
ABO/NDO- A ceremony was held in Tan Phu Commune, Cai Lay township, in the Mekong River Delta province of Tien Giang, on December 31, to mark the 60th anniversary of the Ap Bac Victory (January 2, 1963-2023).
The event was attended by former Party and State leaders over the generations, the Secretary of the Party Central Committee (PCC) and Head of the PCC’s Commission for Communications and Education Nguyen Trong Nghia and Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan.
Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman of Tien Giang Provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Van Vinh emphasised, that the Ap Bac Victory 60 years ago marked the development of the military arts and the southern armed forces.

He added that the victory signalled the bankruptcy of the US "Special War" strategy, opening the movement of “Following Ap Bac, annihilating enemies to achieve feats” around the southern region.
Over the past 60 years, the spirit of the Ap Bac Victory has become the will, determination and motivation for generations of officers, soldiers and armed forces of Tien Giang Province, to continue fighting for national independence and freedom and the cause of national construction and defence, as well as the development of the locality.
Under the authorisation of the Government, Party official Nguyen Trong Nghia presented a certificate recognising the Ap Bac Victory site as a special national historical relic.
