President Vo Van Thuong concludes visits to Italy and Vatican
ABO/NDO- President Vo Van Thuong and his spouse arrived back in Vietnam on the morning of July 29, successfully concluding his state visit to Italy and the visit to the Vatican from July 25-28.
In Italy, the Vietnamese leader held talks with President Sergio Mattarella; met with Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and attended the signing ceremony of cooperation documents between the two countries; and met the President of the Senate Ignazio La Russa and the President of the Chamber of Deputies Lorenzo Fontana, as well as visiting the Italian capital city Rome and meeting its mayor.
While visiting the Tuscany region, President Vo Van Thuong met with President of Tuscany Eugenio Giani and Mayor of Florence Dario Nardella.

President Vo Van Thuong and his spouse attended a state banquet hosted by the Italian President and his daughter and attended a concert in celebration of 50 years of Vietnam-Italy diplomatic ties.
The Vietnamese President also met with leaders of several Italian political parties: the Italian Communist Party, the Italian Democratic Party and the Italian Communist Refoundation Party.
President Vo Van Thuong spent time visiting the Vietnamese Embassy and meeting the Vietnamese community in Italy and close Italian friends of Vietnam.
In Rome, the Vietnamese leader laid a wreath at the Altare della Patria.
Before President Vo Van Thuong concluded his state visit to Italy, Italian President Sergio Mattarella hosted an official farewell ceremony for the Vietnamese state leader, his spouse and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation.
During his visit to the Vatican, after attending the formal welcome ceremony, President Vo Van Thuong met with Pope Francis and Secretary of State of the Vatican Cardinal Pietro Parolin and visited the Sistine Chapel.
In Italy and the Vatican, President Vo Van Thuong engaged in nearly 30 effective activities, agreed with Italian and Vatican leaders on many important cooperation contents to further promote bilateral ties.
At 6pm local time on July 28, President Vo Van Thuong, his spouse and the Vietnamese delegation departed for Vietnam, concluding the visits to Italy and the Vatican.
