NA, Moroccan House of Representatives enhance cooperation

ABO/NDO- General Secretary of the National Assembly (NA) and Chairman of the NA Office Bui Van Cuong held talks with Secretary General of the House of Representatives of Morocco Najib El Khadi, who is also President of the Association of Secretaries General of Parliaments (ASGP), in Hanoi on June 21.

At the event, Cuong said the visit by the Moroccan delegation to Vietnam illustrates the friendship and multifaceted cooperation between the two nations in general and the two parliaments in particular.

On the basis of the agreement between the two legislative bodies, Cuong agreed that the two sides will consider the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding to enhance and deepen the relations between the Vietnamese NA’s office and the Moroccan House of Representative’s secretariat in the coming time.

He suggested they continue close coordination to prepare for the exchange of high-level delegations and parliamentary delegations, and make recommendations to the two legislative bodies in bilateral and multilateral activities, among others.

The Vietnamese NA stands ready to host an ASGP thematic conference in 2025 looking into issues of concerns of the association’s members, he said, proposing the building of a coordination and cooperation mechanism for general secretaries of parliaments in Asia-Pacific.

Najib El Khadi affirmed that Morocco wants to deepen and diversify ties with Vietnam in all areas, and stressed that the cooperation agreement between the two legislative organisations lay an important basis for the two sides to continue rolling out their cooperation mechanisms, thus enhancing the efficiency of activities of the two parliaments and their secretariats.

The two sides reached consensus on cooperation orientations in the next period and shared a hope that the friendship and multifaceted cooperation between the two nations and parliaments will develop in a deeper and more practical fashion in the coming time thanks to their joint efforts.
