The department, under the Ministry of Labour, War-Invalids and Social Affairs (MOLISA) said that right after political instability was reported in Libya, MOLISA worked with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) and relevant agencies to bring the Vietnamese labourers home.
Presently, there are 2 Vietnamese labourers volunteering to stay in Libya even after being encouraged by their families, enterprises and the Vietnamese Embassy in Libya, to return home. Accordingly, MOLISA has asked the embassy and enterprises to hold regular contact with these labourers to provide support if needed. A further three workers are said to be missing after extensive searches by all relevant authorities in both Vietnam and Libya.
According to the Overseas Labourer Management Department, airplane and transit fees, as well as unexpected expenses were paid by Vietnamese employers or enterprises. A part of this was paid by the fund for overseas employment.
MOLISA is providing support of between VND1-5 million for each labourer, and asked enterprises to give priority in recruiting and assisting labourers returning from Libya and sending them to work in other labour markets.
