Vietnam commits to international co-operation on combating hi-tech crime
Deputy Minister of Public Security Le Quy Vuong has reaffirmed Vietnam’s unwavering commitments in international co-operation to combat crime, including hi-tech crime.
Vuong made the pledge while addressing a conference on strengthening international co-operation on combating crimes ─ particularly those using advanced technology to disrupt social order and safety ─ in Hanoi on October 29.
He said that Vietnam hopes to establish and reinforce co-operation with law enforcement agencies of countries around the world in the fight against cybercrime for the the security and order of every nation.
The international conference, the first of its kind to be held in Vietnam, drew the participation of cyber-security experts from United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, European Cybercrime Centre (EC3), and representatives from agencies and organisations abroad working in the fields.
During the two-day event, participants were invited to share their experiences in the investigation of cybercrime and knowledge of tactics employed by criminals in their illegal actions.
The delegates also discussed technical solutions and collaboration mechanisms for preventing and controlling crime.
Statistics from the International Criminal Police Organisation (Interpol) show that a hi-tech crime is committed every 14 seconds around the world causing estimated losses of US$445 billion annually.
