Activities to celebrate 70th anniversary of Vietnam People's Army
A wide variety of activities are being held across the country to mark the 70th anniversary of Vietnam People’s Army (December 22, 1944 - 2014) and 25th celebration of the Whole People’s Defence Festival Day (December 22, 1989 – 2014).
The announcement was made yesterday at a press briefing in Hanoi by the Ministry of Defence (MoD), in collaboration with the Party Central Committee's Commission for Popularisation and Education and the Ministry of Information and Communication.
A large formal meeting will be held on December 20 at the National Conference Centre in Hanoi to celebrate the two events.
The MoD will also co-ordinate with other ministries, branches and localities to organise various activities including a scientific seminar themed ‘The heroic army of Vietnam, an exhibition featuring achievements of Vietnam People’s Army over the past 70 years, the 2014 Viet Bac trade fair, and a cycling tournament – Vietnam Defence Cup.
The Ministry will hold a meeting for the generations of ‘Uncle Ho’s soldiers’, Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, heroes of the People's Armed Forces, and veterans.
A ceremony in Hanoi will honour outstanding young people of the Vietnam People’s Army and People’s Public Security who made notable achievements in ‘Studying and Following President Ho Chi Minh's Moral Example’ during the 2012 – 2014 period.
On the occasion, representatives of the ministries and localities will make visits, build houses and present gifts, as well as provide free medical check-ups and medicine to beneficiaries across the country.
