The Government has recently issued a new decree which gives detailed guidance for implementing a number of regulations in the revised Law on Health Insurance.

Since January 1, 2015, workers with unlimited and short-term labor contracts; staffs, civil servants will pay 4.5% of their minimum salaries on insurance.
The decree also stipulates health insurance subsidies for those from near-poor families, pupils, students, workers in agro-forestry, fishery and salt areas.
Specifically, the State will pay 100% of expenses on treatment for members of families recently escaping from poverty in five concecutive years; near-poor households in poor districts in accordance with Resolution 30a/2008/NQ-CP, dated December 27, 2008.
The rest of member of near-poor families will benefit from 70% of expenses on treatment.
Earlier, the National Assembly on June 13, 2014 passed amendments and supplements to the Law on Health Insurance.
The new health insurance amendment is expected to expand card holders’ additional benefits and enjoyment in order to increase poor people’s access to medical services and to encourage more people to get health insurance.
