Deputy PM Phuc hailed ‘Red Sunday’ as a reflection of Vietnamese people’s solidarity and tradition of mutual support, while speaking highly of contributions made by participants to this special event.

He expressed his belief that ‘Red Sunday’ will continue developing more strongly in the future, drawing increasing interest and enthusiastic participation from the majority of youth and people to fulfilling their responsibilities to the community.

On the occasion, Deputy PM Phuc, delegates, volunteers and youths signed on the ‘humane peach’ demonstrating their determination to strengthen the voluntary blood donation movement as a whole and the Red Sunday campaign in particular.

The 7th ‘Red Sunday’ event will be held in 18 cities and provinces across the country until February 4 with a focus on two Sundays — January 25 and February 1 — and is expected to collect about 15,000 blood units from tens of thousands of youth, students, pupils and other volunteers throughout the campaign.

Over 1,500 units of blood have been donated so far in three provinces of Nam Dinh, Vinh Phuc and Thanh Hoa in response to this year’s event.

Red Sunday was initiated by the Tien Phong Newspaper in 2009 and has become an annual event with the involvement of many offices, units and schools throughout the country.
