Deputy PM insists on addressing shortcomings in medical training
Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam has emphasised the importance of renovating medical personnel training in efforts to deal with the pressing issue of quality of medical workers.
Meeting with representatives from the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET), the Ministry of Health (MOH) and a number of medical universities in Hanoi on May 29, Deputy PM Dam insisted on clarifying requirements to each grade of medical training to create a basis for designing a medical training model in Vietnam meeting international standards in line with the latest models throughout the world.
He urged the MOET to identify knowledge requirements to medical tertiary, master and doctoral training, while asking the MOH to build standard knowledge towards general doctors and duration for each grade of training.
Deputy PM Dam stressed the immediate need to appoint hospitals as the training partners of medical universities and to conduct inspections of medical universities to ensure training quality.
At the meeting, deputies agreed with the necessity to renovate health personnel training, aiming to improve training quality towards international integration and ensuring quality of healthcare services. Many solutions were also put up for discussion.
