Vietnam sends 35,700 workers abroad in first four months
The number of Vietnamese workers sent abroad in the first four months of 2015 was estimated at 35,700, up 3.93% over the same period last year.
According to the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs, in April alone foreign countries and territories received more than 9,900 Vietnamese workers with Taiwan (China) the largest recipient, followed by Japan and Malaysia.
Taiwan has been determined as a key market for Vietnamese guest workers as it accepts a large proportion of unskilled workers and offers decent salaries compared with other countries.
The first four months of the year also witnessed positive signs from Japan and the Republic of Korea (ROK).
Japan has announced that it will begin accepting foreign construction workers who have completed three years of training. The country also has a strong demand for highly skilled workers such as engineers, nurses and caregivers.
Meanwhile Vietnam and the ROK have signed a memorandum of understanding, under which the ROK will select 2,900 Vietnamese workers from a maximum of 5,400 submissions to work in manufacturing, construction and agriculture.
