Various activities mark International Children's Day

A series of activities have taken place across the country to celebrate International Children's Day.

A delegation from the Vietnam Fund for Child Protection of the Vietnam Trade Unions led by Vice President of Vietnam General Confederation of Labour (VGCL), Nguyen Thi Thu Hong, has visited the kindergarten at Hai Duong ShinTB BVT Ltd. Co.

The Hai Duong ShinTB BVT Ltd. Co has 4,673 workers. The company’s kindergarten is currently caring for 118 children of workers. The company has invested in facilities and sponsors all meals for children at the kindergarten.

On June 1, the Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City and the Ho Chi Minh City Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (HHCYU) held a programme themed ‘Connecting Love’.

The programme presented 1,680 gifts worth VND 100,000 each to poor children, orphan children and disabled children at Go Vap Child Protection Centre, Linh Xuan Child Protection Centre, Thu Duc Teenager Village, Thi Nghe Protection Center for Disabled Orphans, and Go Vap SOS Children’s Village.

On the same day, in Yen Bai city, the Central Council of the Ho Chi Minh Young Pioneer Organisation, the Vietnam Fund for Child Protection and Yen Bai province People’s Committee organised a ceremony to honour 200 children in special circumstances with good study results in six mountain north provinces - Ha Giang, Tuyen Quang, Yen Bai, Hoa Binh, Son La, and Lao Cai. Each child received a scholarship worth VND 1 million.

Additionally, the organising board offered 25 bicycles to 25 children in special circumstances in Yen Bai province.

In Quang Nam, the province has decided to invest VND 100 million to build two playgrounds at Tien Son kindergarten in Thien Phuoc district and Dang commune’s kindergarten in Tay Giang district.

On the occasion, the provincial Fund for Child Protection has presented 50 gifts worth VND 500,000 to children in special circumstances, with good study results in Tien Phuoc district.
