President Truong Tan Sang made the statement at a reception in Hanoi on July 14 for over 100 young Vietnamese expatriates from 22 countries and territories globally, who have engaged in the summer camp.

President Sang highly appreciated the Foreign Ministry’s State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs for hosting the camp, which reached its 12th edition this year, receiving enthusiastic appreciation from Overseas Vietnamese communities abroad.

The event has helped realise the Party and State’s policies on OVs while keeping them update on their homeland’s changes.

He expressed his delight that the OV communities have improved their livings and integrated well with host countries while providing support for their motherland.

He said he hoped that the young expatriates would exert more efforts in their studies, accumulate scientific knowledge and advanced technologies from developed countries, respect the host countries’ laws, and act as a bridge linking Vietnam and the world.

For their part, the young delegates expressed their pride to have Vietnamese root in their blood, pledging that they would study harder and come back home to serve their fatherland.

They also hoped for more exchanges between Vietnamese and OV youth as well as more textbooks on teaching Vietnamese to OV communities.
