The “Joint efforts for public health” programme is a programme of great humanity as health is the most precious treasure of each human being, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam has said.

Dam made the statement at a reception for a delegation of 50 participants in the programme in Hanoi on August 14, during which he hailed the initiative by the Vietnam Journalists’ Association and the Vietnam Medical Association to organise such a meaningful campaign.
Praising their active involvement in healthcare work for people, Deputy PM Dam called on the deputies to continue deploying practical activities in the future to raise public awareness of caring for people’s health.
The Party, State and government have already issued many policies and mechanisms seeking to best ensure people’s health; however, difficulties remain in reality as many ethnic people have limited access to basic medical services, Dam said.
He requested ministries, sectors and localities to continue mobilising social resources and enabling enterprises to participate in social welfare, while urging press agencies to boost information dissemination, aiming to create a high consensus among people classes in joining mass health insurance service.
Many practical activities have been organised so far as part of the “Joint efforts for public health 2015” programme, including a consulting journey on healthcare for women and children in northern mountainous provinces, a forum themed “Improving Vietnamese people’s fitness and stature between 2015-2030”, and an exchange among prestigious enterprises in caring for public health.
The programme also offers a good opportunity for health institutions to share and discuss measures to improve the quality of healthcare services, contributing to reducing the mortality rate and improving the quality of population and reproductive health in Vietnam.
