Tien Giang: studious poor students get bikes

A programme aimed to raise funds to buy bikes for studious poor students in the Mekong Delta province of Tien Giang was launched in My Tho city on September 17.
 
At the ceremony to mark the presence of the “Hanh trinh cuoc song” (Real Life Journey) programme in Tien Giang, the AIA Vietnam Life Insurance Ltd. Co. and the National Fund for Vietnamese Children presented 50 bikes and 50 gifts worth VND 95 million (US$4,220) to those in need.
 
According to the organising board, the programme has so far granted bikes to 1420 underprivileged students in 35 cities and provinces nationwide. In 2015, about 1,000 bicycles will be donated to poor kids in 25 localities.
 
Within the framework of the programme, organisers also launched a competition to encourage children to write about their journeys to school before and after they receives bikes as well as their dreams.
