National centre for fire brigades dispatch inaugurated

The Ministry of Public Security held a ceremony at the Fire Prevention, Fighting and Rescue Police Department in Hanoi on October 20 to inaugurate the Fire Brigades Dispatch Centre – Headquarters.

The centre was formed under a EUR9.8 million project for the work of fire prevention, fighting and rescue in Vietnam, including EUR7.99 million provided by the Austrian Government’s ODA capital. The project was implemented from 2012 to 2015.

In addition to the Fire Brigades Dispatch Centre – Headquarters in Hanoi, the project also consists of management centres in Ho Chi Minh City, Hai Phong, Da Nang and Binh Duong; 21 information centres at firefighting units and equipment for 64 fire engines in the four localities.
 
Over the nine months of trial operation, the management centres in the four provinces and cities have supported the fire prevention and fighting police units to resolve around 2,000 fire, explosion and rescue emergencies and provided information to the public.
 
With a high capacity of receiving and dispatching urgent calls as well as connecting the radio communication network with mobile and fixed telecommunication network, the centre is expected to contribute to improving the efficiency of the management and transmission of fire prevention, fighting and rescue cases.
 
At the inauguration ceremony, Austrian Minister of Transport, Austrian Minister of Transport, Innovation and Technology Alois Stoger affirmed that the Austrian Government has always looked out for and supported Vietnam in numerous areas as well as affirmed it will continue to offer preferential help to Vietnam to develop similar projects.
