Activities nationwide mark Vietnam Doctors' Day
Hanoi K Hospital needs to continue to future promote the prevention, early detection and treatment of cancer to reduce mortality due to this disease.

The statement was made by Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee (PCC) and Head of the PCC Commission for Communication and Education Vo Van Thuong during his visit to the third branch of the National Cancer Hospital (K Hospital) in Tan Trieu Commune, Thanh Tri District on the occasion of Vietnam Doctors’ Day (February 27).
The Politburo member appreciated the outstanding achievements in caring for people’s health that the officers, doctors, nurses and employees of the K Hospital have gained over the past years.
He also asked the hospital’s leaders to focus on educating and training in professional knowledge as well as improving medical ethics and bedside manners among the doctors and medical staff.
On the same day, Politburo member Thuong visited the People’s Teacher and Professor Doctor Lieutenant General Pham Gia Khanh who won the Ho Chi Minh Award for Science and Technology in 2006.
The same day, the Hanoi Department of Health held a ceremony to mark the Vietnam Doctors’ Day and launch the emulation movements in the sector for 2016.
In the past year, despite numerous difficulties and challenges, the municipal sector successfully implemented various professional programmes. In 2016, the sector will focus on improving the effectiveness of preventive medicine, actively preventing and controlling epidemics, closely managing healthcare, promoting administrative reform and further investing medical infrastructure and equipment.
Thai Binh provincial Mental Hospital also held a ceremony to mark its 40th founding anniversary and receive the President’s Labour Order, third class. Covering an area of 2.2 hectares, the hospital is now equipped with modern machines to provide checks-up to nearly 20,000 people and residential treatment to around 3,000 patients each year.
