The event was jointly held by the National Safety Traffic Committee and Toyota Vietnam under the framework of their joint action plan for the 2015-2018 period.
It aims to increase public knowledge of laws and regulations on traffic safety and improve management in the field, thus contributing to reducing accidents for a safer Vietnam.
Speaking at the launching ceremony, Vice Chairman of the National Safety Traffic Committee Khuat Viet Hung said that the co-operative programme is a positive contribution aiming to realise the slogan “People’s Lives First.”
Toyota Vietnam's General Director Yoshihisa Maruta said that every driver should be an example for family, friends and others in improving their attitude towards driving. He also expressed his belief that positive participation of the drivers would help to improve traffic safety in Vietnam.
The programme focuses on spreading three major messages: “No cell phone use while driving”, “No drinking and driving,” and “Wearing a seatbelt while driving.”
Accordingly, short videos delivering the three messages will be broadcast on the traffic channel of Radio of Vietnam from 8:00-8:30am and from 6:00-6:30pm throughout the first three months of this year.
The videos feature situations which may occur in real life, such as a mother driving her daughter to school while posting a photo on Facebook, and subsequently having an accident; a drunken father picking his child up from school; and the consequences of a driver not wearing a seatbelt.
Under the programme, posters on the three themes are also being displayed at public spaces across the country.
