Nearly VND3.6 billion in support of AO victims
Nearly VND3.6 billion has been collected to assist the lives of Agent Orange victims through a humanitarian message sending program.
The program, which aimed to mark the 55th year of the AO Calamity in Vietnam, had been held by the Vietnam Association of Victims of Agent Orange (VAVA), the national humanitarian portal (1400) and the Ministry of Information and Communications since February 25th. By sending the text DACAM to 1409, each message contributed VND18,000 to the program.
Nearly two months after the launch ceremony, the program had received nearly 200,000 messages, collecting nearly VND3.6 billion.
According to Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Rinh, VAVA President, between 2011 and 2015, the program received over 700,000 messages, or roughly VND13 billion.
“The figure holds great significance for the victims, showing the strong support of the public for the humanitarian activity,” he said.
All the money was allocated to localities to build boarding rehabilitation foundations for the victims and directly assist the victims.
